Marathon Cup rules
Dates: Dec 20, 19:00 UTC (changes possible), with alternative participation up to Dec 28, inclusive.
Format: One 111-lap race on RT4 Crowded Stadium will take place at specified time.
In addition to that, after the race players will be able to score up to 150 points by setting a 111-lap race time alone.
A warm-up will happen right before the race (right after specified time).
Make sure to install the latest version of the track before the games.
There are two ways to score points:
Method 1: Play in the main race.
Players who finish the race will be ordered by finishing position,
and ahead of those who played but didn't finish.
Those players, in turn, will be ordered by completed distance.
Top 6 finishers are guaranteed to have the category points according to scoring
(that is, 250-230-212-195-179-164).
For the rest of players, the same scoring will be used,
but the list of those will be intertwined with the other way to score points — see below.
Method 2: Set a time after the race.
In case you couldn't participate in the main race, or are unhappy with the race result,
you can play 111 laps on RT4 Crowded Stadium alone on a specifically allocated server(s).
The number of attempts is not limited. However, in case of complaints on deliberate holding of a server
we reserve the right to take actions.
The scoring is as follows:
All entries of the result table of Method 1, including non-finishing ones, will be considered as is.
All entries of the result table of Method 2 that resulted in a finish, will be considered.
Their resulting time will be multiplied by a certain value C, same for all entries.
All entries from the above paragraphs will be put in the same table and ordered by the race time (possibly multiplied).
Non-finishing entries from Method 1 will be placed below all other entries in the order of Method 1.
In case of tie on time, the Method 1 entries will be favoured.
If entries obtained the same method are tied, they will share the points for the corresponding places.
The only exception from that rule is the equality to the best Method 2 entry
(or entries, if there are several).
In case of such tie, all the entries with that time will share the points for the corresponding places,
no matter the method they were obtained with.
For every player, only the best entry in the list will be taken. The order of those entries will determine the points.
The value of C will be determined as follows:
The best Method 2 entry time, after being multiplied by C, will be
greater than or equal to the geometric mean of the Method 1 6th and 7th entries' times.
If there are less finishers than 7,
the time of each next finisher will be determined as 101% of time of previous finisher (even if that doesn't really matter).
The value of C will be at least 1.
The smallest possible value of C subject to the above limitations will be used.
